Job Description for Downstream Development Scientist
Key responsibility:
Responsible for the development of robust, high-yielding, scalable and economically viable purification processes for the production of particles
Design, perform, and manage sophisticated experiments independently
Execute experimental studies to support downstream process development and optimization in several units of operations (clarification, chromatography, and TFF) for manufacturing exosomes
Author, review, and refine technical reports to provide definitive interpretations and recommendations
Execute technology transfer and risk assessments which align with program key milestones with respect to resource requirements and timelines
Drive development activities working in a cross-functional environment and present at cross-functional meetings
Work collaboratively and effectively as part of team
Qualifications:
M.S. in scientific with a higher advanced degree preferred
2+ year process development experience in design, optimization, scale-up, and/or troubleshooting of purification unit operations
Hands on experience with filtration methods (depth, UF/TF, etc.)
Strong experience with AKTA purification systems and Unicorn software, chromatography (AEX, CEX, affinity, HIC, mixed-mode, and SEC, etc.)
Working knowledge of GxP
