OUR SCIENCE
Xsome Biotech's ResEV platform technology allows precise delivery of drugs to the lung paranchyma via inhalation. There are several fold of enhancement when compared to liposomes. We have also pioneered the use of EVs for lung regeneration.
WHAT ARE SECRETOMES?
• Secretome, also known as conditioned medium, is a set of secreted proteins, vesicles and other molecules that have biological activities.
• Secretome varies and depends on the property of the parent cell.
• Cell-free therapy has emerged as a promising approach in regenerative medicine since paracrine effect has been recognized as an important mechanism that cells exert their therapeutic effect.
WHAT ARE EXOSOMES?
•Exosomes are a type of extracellular vesicles.
•Exosomes are naturally secreted lipid bilayer nanoparticles by cells
•Exosomes are 30-150 nm in diameter and contain constituents (proteins, RNA) of parent cells.
•Exosomes mediate cell-cell interaction, affect cell function and behavior.
NATURAL EXOSOMES
•Exosomes are present in nearly all human biological fluids
•Exosomes are composed of proteins, ligands and nucleic acids that contain the bioinformation of parent cells.
•Exosomes derived from specific cell types are natural therapeutics towards repairing tissues and promoting angiogenesis, making them promising in regenerative medicine and treating inflammatory diseases.
•Exosomes bypass bottlenecks of cell therapies, such as safety concerns, storage and delivery limitation of cells.
ENGINEERED EXOSOMES
•Exosomes hold high potential as a nano-delivery system due to their small size, high biocompatibility, high stability, target specificity and the ability to cross biological barriers.
•Exosomes can be used to deliver a variety of drugs, such as protein, mRNA and siRNA.
•Cargos can be loaded into/onto exosomes actively via engineered cells or passively via electrophoresis to natural exosomes.
